ASHLEY FONTENOT, bs – graduate counseling intern

supervised by dr. vagdevi meunier, psyd

I have a particular interest in working with queer couples using the Gottman Method and EFT. I have always been passionate about relationship education and believe people need to be taught how to successfully navigate a healthy relationship, and I believe every one deserves the opportunity to thrive in a healthy relationship. Queer couples are often stigmatized, I want to provide them a safe space to thrive in therapy and work on their relationship without the stigma. I would love to help couples ignite their spark and strengthen their friendship in order to help them combat conflict.

I love being a therapist because I love listening to people’s stories and providing people and couples with the tools they need in order to reignite their friendship. I believe friendship is such an important basis for a good relationship, I want to remind couples how to have fun with each other even in the challenging times.

My therapeutic style is very collaborative. I enjoy being the helping hand for couples while they navigate their struggles.

Personal passions and interests include going on walks, doing puzzles, collecting vinyls, playing with my cats and playing video games on my Nintendo Switch. I love taking time out of my day to tend to my inner child and make sure I incorporate some fun into adulthood! I would love to show other couples how to incorporate the goofy and fun hobbies into their lives and relationships.
